Dear Great Voice,
Maybe you know the feeling. An audition lands in your inbox.
You step up to the mic, record a take…and it sounds pretty good.
But then you listen back and wonder:
Is this really the best I can do?
So you try it again.
Maybe you change the pacing.
Add a little more energy.
Try to sound more conversational.
And three, four, five takes later…
You’re not even sure which one is best anymore.
The clock is ticking. The audition is due and you’re starting to panic.
If that sounds familiar, there’s a reason.
When you’re auditioning from home there IS no director.
It’s just you, the copy and the microphone.
That means you need to be able to do two jobs at once:
You have to be the performer…AND the director.
And that’s one of the most important skills you can develop as a working voice actor.
