Q: How soon can I begin my coaching sessions?
You can begin as soon as you and your coach schedule a mutually convenient time for your first session.
Q: I am not ready to begin right now but I wanted to take advantage of the demo sale. Can I begin my training later?
Yes, you can begin whenever it’s convenient for you. But don’t wait too long! Every day you wait is a day you postpone your new voice over career.
Q: Do I need any special equipment to work with my coach?
If you have a webcam (as many computers do) you and your coach can do your sessions face to face on SKYPE (which is free) or you can do them by phone.
Q: Do I need a microphone to begin my coaching sessions?
While you won’t use your mic for the coaching sessions themselves, we recommend you purchase a USB microphone to record your homework and later, to record auditions and voice overs from home.
Let us know if you need help with your home studio.
Q: Do I need recording software?
While you won’t need recording software for your demo coaching sessions, we recommend you download some basic recording software so you can practice recording from home.
Q: Where will I record my demo voice tracks?*
You will record your voice tracks at a professional recording studio near you. Make sure it is a spoken-word recording studio with experience recording voice overs and not merely a music studio. The studio should have a sound isolation booth, a high quality microphone and a phone patch or SKYPE connection so your coach can direct you while you record. To avoid surprises, we suggest visiting the studio before your session. Make sure they are a top-notch professional voice over studio and if not, go somewhere else!
Q: Can I record my voice tracks in my home studio?
We recommend that you record your voice tracks in a professional recording studio outside your home so that you can fully concentrate on your performance. For best quality, we cannot produce demos recorded in home studios unless your home studio is
pre-approved by your coach and our audio engineer.
Q: How much studio time will I need to record my demo?
Because you will be well prepared when you go into the studio to record your demo, your voice track session will typically take about one hour.
Q: Who is responsible for paying for the studio time to record my voice tracks?
While your 5 coaching sessions, demo direction and professional post production are included in your demo package, you are responsible for paying for the studio time to record your voice tracks.
Q: How long is the finished demo?
Your completed produced demo will be about 90 seconds long.
Q: Can I record more than one demo?
Yes, for an additional fee. For details, please contact our talent advisor at 800-333-8108 x227 or talent@greatvoice.com
Q: How many different selections are on the demo?
In your 5 private coaching sessions included in your package, you and your coach will work through several pieces of copy before you settle on the scripts for your demo. Ultimately you will end up with 5-7 short excerpts from various scripts.
Q: Where do I find scripts for my demo?
Your coach will help and will work closely with you to source the scripts for your demo
Q: Will my produced demo have music behind each track?
Yes, our expert audio engineers will add music to your demo behind each track as part of the included post production process.
Q: What happens if I need to take a break before I’ve completed all 5 coaching sessions?
We’ve found that our students who schedule their coaching sessions on a weekly basis for 5 consecutive weeks do the best because they are able to build and maintain momentum. If you are planning a trip or will be otherwise unavailable for an extended period of time, it's best to begin your demo coaching after you return.
Q: How soon after I complete my coaching do I need to record my demo?
To maintain momentum we suggest you record your demo within one to two weeks after you complete your last coaching session.
Q: What happens during each coaching session?
The goal of your 5 demo coaching sessions is to
fine tune your voice acting skills and prepare scripts for your demo. In your first session your coach will get to know you, assess your skill level, the type of demo you would like to do and your aspirations for your voice over career. In subsequent lessons you and your coach will work on scripts. By the 5th session, the two of you will decide which scripts will appear on the final demo.
Q: Is there any home work between sessions?
Your coach may ask you to record and send practice selections to review between sessions.
The discounted fee for this special Black Friday demo sale is $1,500 (or two equal consecutive monthly payments of $800).
Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery of your finished demo after we receive your recorded voice tracks.
