Let’s be honest. When you hear the phrase “Hard Sell” you might think: Pushy. Annoying. Manipulative.
Why would you want to do that in your voice overs?
Fair question.
But here’s what Hard Sell really means as a voice over style: It has energy, urgency, conviction, and clarity.
It’s the style behind most of the commercials you hear on radio, podcasts, and YouTube.
Things like car dealerships, furniture “blow out sales”, concerts and events, and more! The energetic “hard sell” style commands attention.
When you have this in your toolkit, you’ll be able to perform one of the most-requested commercial styles.
The problem is, most VOs have no idea how to properly calibrate their performance for a hard sell. They way underestimate the intensity and energy an effective hard sell truly requires.
Even when they think they’re dialing their energy up to a 9 or 10…
In the playback, it actually sounds like a 3 or 4 on the energy scale. It doesn’t capture the right level at all.
There are a few reasons why this happens, and they are fixable when you know what you’re doing.
That’s why I’m hosting a brand-new Hard Sell Skill Spotlight Training this Thursday at 8:00 PM Eastern
